PlayStation 4 Pro Vs PS4: Do You Really Need 4K Display?

The Xbox One S introduced 4K upscaling and a built-in UHD Blu-ray drive into a console, while the PlayStation 4 Pro ignored the UHD BD drive and instead showcased both 4K upscaling and, unlike the Xbox One S, the ability for game developers to actually increase the resolutions of their games at high levels.

4K has been a thing for most new consoles

People have made their comments about just how much more desirable the Xbox One S's 4K enhancements have made it versus the original Xbox One, especially given its relatively low price. But the PS4 Pro is still, by no means, the go-to product by most console gamers.

PS4 vs PS4 Pro

Now, since the PlayStation 4 Pro also offers a 4K resolution, it would be good to determine just how significant 4K is towards the graphical representation of console gaming. With that being said, a comparison has been conducted to determine just how the PS4 Pro's 4K capabilities compare with the HD-only visuals of the original PS4.

The Difference

After making several comparisons, several analysts have given the impression that the 4K resolution upgrade is much harder to see. In fact, after making several side-by-side comparisons, there are times when it actually feels slightly harder to pick out any distant details or difference-makers that would determine the disparity between the two.

Think before you leap

Finally, it seems that people are leaning towards believing that the 4K-resolution PS4 Pro does not significantly separate itself from the older PS4 version. It seems that purchasing PS4 Pro depends upon you and your TV set.

If you own a PS4 and an HD TV, then it would not be necessary for a PS4 Pro upgrade since the 4K feature wouldn't even matter. But if you own a 4K HD TV, then you can consider making up the upgrade, though, as already given in the analysis, the differences are really close to no difference at all.
