Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean And HTC Sense 5 May Head To HTC One X Soon

HTC launched the HTC One X at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 which ran on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and HTC Sense 4. The company updated to handset to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 4+ and now rumors suggest that a Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update and HTC Sense 5 will make their way to the HTC One X.

Recently, HTC launched its Android flagship smartphone for 2013, the HTC One, and after the launch of the smartphone, the company confirmed the new HTC Sense 5 for global versions of the HTC One X, HTC One S, HTC One X+ and the HTC Butterfly. Since then, rumors have been surfacing that not only Sense 5, but the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates will also roll out to the HTC soon, in June or July.

A recent Twitter post says "Good news for HOX (Endeavor_U) users, HTC will update device to 4.2.2 and Sense 5. I bet this will happen in June-July..."

Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is currently the latest Android operating system; however, rumors are flying thick and fast that Google will make an announcement for Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie around the month of May 2013. As such, when many other Android devices will run on Key Lime Pie, HTC devices will still run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update will bring many enhancements to the HTC One X along with some bug fixes. The smartphone will have features like Google Now and Project Butter for a smoother user interface.

The competition in the smartphone space has increased rapidly and companies like Samsung and Motorola have already updated some of their handsets to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. HTC will have to roll out a software update to its existing Android smartphones to stay in the race.

Even though HTC has not confirmed the software update we will have to keep our fingers crossed in hopes that the HTC One X gets Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software update soon.
