Why 'Nintendo NES Classic' Had Supply Shortage?

Avid gamers around the world are patiently waiting for the upcoming stocks of the elusive Nintendo NES Classic Edition. As of now, several new reports claim that Nintendo is not working on the additional stocks of the NES Classic after all.

This is because of the company is currently focused on their upcoming imminent and equally sought-after Nintendo Switch. This explains the seemingly purposeful supply shortages on the NES Classic.

New Nintendo NES Stocks coming

Despite this disappointing news, there's also news saying that GameStop might make the NES Classic Edition available in their physical and online stores today, Wednesday, January 11. It has been claimed that a sales assistant in the store has leaked the information.

Other stores to sell NES Classic

Aside from that, reports have also claimed that GameStop will be getting the NES Classic Edition inventory at its warehouse. However, it should be noted that these rumors remain unconfirmed until now. Some stores are also getting limited NES Classic Edition stocks daily, according to reports. However, it also made clear that the availability of the classic console in online stores remain scarce since last year.

Stocks are really low-to-zero

Reports have also confirmed that Nintendo has not resupplied retailers with the said console in a significant way. For instance, according to a report, the in-stock level of the NES at Target stores is at 5%, which implies that the chances that your local Target store has the NES in stock are very low as of the moment.

Gamers blame the Switch

Some gamers blame the upcoming launching of the hybrid console Nintendo Switch as the possible reason behind the shortage in supply of the NES Classic. In the meantime, the Nintendo Switch will officially be unveiled tomorrow, January 12.

The Switch will be available at an initial price of $250 during its March 17 release. But with that said, the company is yet to confirm if there are any more stocks coming for the NES Classic.
