The Nintendo Switch Goes Up For Pre-Order This Friday

A lot of people are looking forward to the release of the Nintendo Switch this year, but with news that the console will come in short supply on launch day, some people are trying to find ways to ensure one for themselves before the device hits shelves. News has it that some stores are offering up pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch staring this Friday.

Nintendo NY had posted on their Twitter account that, "A limited quantity of pre-orders for the #NintendoSwitch will begin on 1/13 at 9AM while supplies last at #NintendoNYC." Polygon had pointed out that this is the first store to be offering up pre-orders for the Switch.

A big event centered on the Nintendo Switch is also scheduled to start streaming from Tokyo at 11 p.m. ET on Jan. 12. In the event, the official launch date for the Switch will be revealed; fans will also be getting a price and a list of all the other launch titles that will be coming with the console.

What's more, there will be preview events across New York that will have the Switch tried out by regular users for the first time. The event starts in Jan. 13, but that will only be exclusive for press; an event on Jan. 14 is an invitation-only-type deal. The only time that the public gets to try out the Switch will be on Jan. 15.

Pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch may be a good move for some fans because news has come out that the Switch will be on short supply come launch day. It's said that retailers will only be able to get a number of 20-30 units on the launch; with only 2 million units available nationwide on launch day. That being said, the pre-order list is also limited - no doubts to ensure that stores still have units to sell come launch day.

The Nintendo Switch is set for a March 2017 release.
