Pokémon GO Update: Niantic To Add Over 1,000 Pokéstops In Shopping Malls In Europe

After revealing that it has put over 5,000 Pokéstops in Starbucks shops across the globe, Niantic has announced anew that over 1,000 PokéStops are also added in shopping malls in Europe. The developer has come to an agreement with Unibail-Rodamco about establishing a gym and Pokéstops for Pokémon GO in its different shopping malls in Europe.

Over 1,000 Pokéstops In Europe

According to a Swedish magazine report, Niantic is in talks with Unibail-Rodamco to make its chain of shopping malls in the European region a center for Pokémon battles. In their agreement, Niantic will start putting up Pokéstops and gyms in 58 malls in Europe very soon. A Pokémon GO Hub report cited Unibail-Rodamco COO Jean-Marie Tritant saying, "We have an (sic) historic agreement with Niantic, where we work together to enrich visitors' experiences at our center through their innovative augmented reality games."

The executive named some of the establishments in Europe as part in the said agreement, including all Unibail-Rodamco in Stockholm, Sweden, Taby Centrum, the Mall of Scandinavia, Nacka Forum Solna Centrum and Fisketorvet in Copehagen, among many others. Similar publication quoted Niantic CEO John Hanke saying, "Each destination centers in Europe will launch a large number of Pokéstops and gym trainers and their friends to experience together in a fun and social atmosphere."

5,000 More Pokéstops In Starbucks Store

On other news, Starbucks has also signed a new agreement with Niantic with regards to expanding Pokémon GO in the said establishment. According to reports, over 5,000 Starbucks stores are joining 7,800 locations Pokéstops across the globe. The company has more than 25,000 stores around the world and it seems like more and more locations have shown interest joining the bandwagon.

Apart from Starbucks, other companies in collaboration with Niantic for Pokémon GO include McDonald's in Japan and Sprint in the U.S. Currently, Pokémon GO is the top downloaded app in App Store for 2016.
