The Nintendo Switch Is Getting Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers

Aside from being one of the newer consoles on the block, the Nintendo Switch will be getting one game closer to the retro side of the spectrum. News has it that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is coming to the console, and it will feature two new playable characters, Evil Ryu and Violent Ken.

According to Capcom, the game will be available in two modes; players will be able to choose between the original pixelized version of Street Fighter II and the high-definition version similar to that of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix , which came out in 2008. The only new thing that Final Challengers will be bringing to the table is the two new characters.

The site writes that Evil Ryu is the version of Ryu that has succumbed to the Satsui no Hado, making him more powerful than the traditional version of the game's original protagonist. Evil Ryu is obsessed with proving himself as the most powerful fighter, and he does not hold back when it comes to the fight.

Violent Ken, on the other hand, was Ryu's rival who was kidnapped and brainwashed by M. Bison with his Psycho Power. He is described to be more "ruthless, aggressive and fearless," and his brotherly rivalry with Ryu has turned into hatred. What's more, Violent Ken's flames are purple instead of the traditional orange flames.

Gamespot also reports that Final Challengers will allow players to have 2v1 fights, which is similar to that of the Dramatic Battle Mode that was featured in the Street Fighter Alpha series. With Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite expected to come out this year, the hype is at an all-time high for Capcom and Street Fighter.

No official release date has been announced for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, but hopefully it comes out close to the release of the Nintendo Switch, which is on March 3.
