After Paladins Open Beta Patch 42 went live last week featuring a brand new frontline champion named Torvald, it seems like Hi-Rez studios is adding another champion to the realm. The arrival of Maeve, the new champion in the upcoming OB43 patch, somehow does not surprise the players since she has been leaked early in OB41 datamining.
On the other hand, fans also got a glimpse of Maeve's background during the OB43 patch preview. As seen on the latest stream, Hi-Rez shares that Maeve got her impressive quickness by living on the streets for a very long time.
Similar to the previous character reveal, Hi-Rez never fails their fans showcasing what the new champion can do in-game via showing all her abilities. Based on the official Paladins forum, Maeve is classified as Flank champion having her two daggers as a primary weapon. LMB caused her to throw two daggers per second dealing 450 damage. Her RMB called Pounce, which she quickly dash forward and perform a melee attack. Meanwhile, colliding with an enemy while on pounce will deal 600 damage and caused Maeve to bounce back.
Meanwhile, Maeve's F ability is called Prowl. When activated, she will receive 80% movement speed increase and jump height for 4 seconds. However, the effect will be canceled if players fire their weapons or using another ability. Her next skill is called the Nine Lives which heals for 500 health and resetting the cooldown of both Pounce and Prowl. Lastly, her ultimate is called Midnight, where the enemies within 300ft will have their vision limited to 30ft radius for 4 seconds.
Aside from Maeve's introduction, Hi-Rez also revealed a new Valentine's Day Chest consisting new Valentine's Day-themed items for Cassie, Grover, Pip, Androxus, Grohk and Viktor. Skye is also given some love with her new Heartbreaker collection which includes Head, Body and Weapon skin plus Emote, MVP Poses and Sprays are also included. Furthermore, a new Candy Unicorn Mount have been introduced along with the candy Unicorn Spray.
Paladins OB43 patch is expected to be uploaded on the PTS soon and will be arriving at the Live Server after a week of testing.
