HIV Cure Update: Minister Of Health Claims Not Being Aware That Nigerian Professor Found An Alleged Cure For HIV; Good news or bad news?

Exactly a day after the vice chancellor of Michael Okpara university of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia state has made their claims regarding the discovery of the supposedly cure for HIV/AIDS, Nigeria's minister for Health is now dismissing the allegations that he has any knowledge of such breakthrough. The Minister said that he was unaware of any kind of cure that is being reported by the media. There have been reports about Professor Maduike Ezeibe, a professor of Virology at the said university to be the person behind the discovery of Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate) which is believed to be the drug that can combat HIV.

Minister Of Health Claims Not Being Aware Of Alleged HIV Cure

In one of his statements reported by NAIJ, through the Director Media & Public Relations at the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Boade Akinola, Health Minister Adewole said that he was not informed or have been made aware of the claims made by the vice chancellor of the university. Furthermore, Adewole has also revealed that there are standard ways in terms of disseminating such information because it involves a serious matter. On the other hand, the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, in conjunction with the College of Medicine University of Ibadan, has already been mandated to verify the two claims of cure for HIV in Nigeria.

What Are The Further Steps To Be Taken?

Meanwhile, according to reports revealed by Daily Post, the health Minister said that they will be making their findings available for the public as soon as they are ready and verified. Additionally, Prof. Ezeibe has also revealed that he was able to present the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016 respectively. However, despite these claims made the professor, Dr. Ehanire Osagie, the Minister of State for Health has already released an advisory to Nigerian doctors  advising them to stop going and abandoning patients who could lose their lives on sick beds. As of press time, Osage believes that there are better approaches that the doctors would be able to use in showing discontent over government or work situation but going on strike is not the best of options.
