EA Outlines The Future Of Star Wars Games

Though fans thought they might have seen the end of "Star Wars" with the release of "Revenge of the Sith" back in 2005, the saga seems to be reinvigorated with J.J. Abrams' "Force Awakens," and that means a lot more games coming from a galaxy far far away. EA has outlined their plans for incoming Star Wars games including Star Wars Battlefront 2 and a third-person adventure game set in a timeline "we have yet to explore."

2017

This year will see the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2 and fans are guessing that it will be announced this coming EA Play 2017. With that in mind, it looks like EA will be letting go of the Battlefront game that they launched in 2015, and fans are already discussing how they are going to handle its slow (and inevitable) death.

This time around, the game is said to span multiple eras, and it will feature the singe-player story campaign that fans have agreed the first Battlefront desperately needed. Hopefully Battlefront 2 will be the game that fans wanted from DICE - not some rush job that lacked several features.

2018

2018 will see the release of a game that is said to shy away from the shooter that is Battlefront and focus more on an "action adventure." Though still untitled, it has been confirmed that the developers will be Visceral Games (Dead Space), and the developers are working on an "original, authentic narrative."

Beyond

Though still untitled, this game is set to be worked on by Respawn Entrtainment (Titanfall) and it's a "third-person action adventure game." Since the timeline is said to be one that's still yet to be explored, it's possible that the game could take the story to the future of "Star Wars" - but then again, that could mess up the narrative for whatever is going to happen in the new trilogy.

As of now, fans are expecting some big announcement in EA Play this coming June 10-12. Though Battlefront 2 might be the focus, it won't hurt to hear about the other titles coming from Respawn and Visceral.
