Princess Kate Outshines Hollywood's Biggest Stars During BAFTA

Princess Kate gave Hollywood a example in charm at the British version of the Oscars on Sunday. For her first-ever debut at the EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), the royal mom, 35, walked the red carpet along with Hollywood royalties, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Kate and Prince William motivated audible wheezes from the crowd as they arrived and even triggered stars to crane their necks to get a good look as the royals took their seats inside the hall.

Princess Kate With Her Stunning Yet Classic Outfit

Kate wore a black, floral-printed dress from Alexander McQueen with her hair up in a classic chignon. The frock displays off-the-shoulder straps and tiers of gathered fabric. Meanwhile, William looked trim in a classic tuxedo.

The Duchess of Cambridge topped off her look with chandelier-style jewels, which Kensington Palace refused to specify if they were Kate's own or lent from another collection.

Prince William Honors BAFTA's Fellowship Awardees

As the show ends, Prince William presented a prestigious BAFTA Fellowship to 90-year-old comedy legend Mel Brooks. William previously awarded a fellowship to Dame Helen Mirren in 2014 , joking that he should call The Queen star "Granny" for the correctness of her portrayal.

Brooks certainly cracked a few jokes during his receiving speech, telling the royals: "I want to make an apology to the Duke and Duchess and Prince Philip for the American Revolution. We were young..." "I am not speechless, but I am definitely overwhelmed by this singular honor," Brooks said before the event. "BAFTA has made a bizarrely startling yet in the end wise decision."

Along with William and brother-in-law Prince Harry, 32, Kate is a big fan of the British film industry, having videoed a special charity animation with Academy Award-winning Aardman Productions and toured the Harry Potter studios in 2013.

And in 2011 - just after her royal wedding - Kate drew wheezes in a lilac Alexander McQueen gown at the BAFTA "Brits to Watch" event in Los Angeles, which she matched with earrings borrowed from the Queen during the royal couple's "nuptial tour" in the U.S. and Canada.
