2017 Toyota Tundra: What Makes It A Worthy Truck

Trucks are among the most sought vehicles in the market because they offer the most versatility. The 2017 Toyota Tundra is among those that compete in the truck segment and despite being outperformed by the likes of Ford F-150 and other rivals, the Tundra has proven itself to be a good truck. But what exactly makes the 2017 Toyota Tundra a worthy truck?

2017 Toyota Tundra: The Powertrain

One of the reasons why trucks are considered versatile is because they can serve as a workhorse and a partner in all sorts of fun like off-road adventures. The 2017 Toyota Tundra is no exception. According to US News, a 4.6-liter V8 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 327 pound-feet of torque powers the 2017 Toyota Tundra. That is more than enough power for you to turn the truck into a workhorse. There is also enough there for you to have some fun off the road.

If you are not satisfied with this however, you can always move up to the more powerful engine configuration. The 5.7-liter V8 has 71 more horses under the hood for a total of 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The powertrains are paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission that transfers the power through a rear wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) configuration depending on your preferences.

2017 Toyota Tundra: How It Drives

While it is true that the 2017 Toyota Tundra is a bit behind when compared to the likes of Ford-150, Chevrolet Silverado and others, it is by no means a pushover. It actually gives you a satisfying driving experience around town, on the highways and off the roads. The 2017 Toyota Tundra also makes a fine work truck with a towing capacity of 10,500 pounds according to The Car Connection. Unless you are towing a giant trailer, you won't have to worry about the 2017 Toyota Tundra being up to the task.

2017 Toyota Tundra: Tech Features

The 2017 Toyota Tundra also has its fair share of tech features. Its Entune infotainment system has a very user-friendly interface along with lots of features for connectivity. You can choose between touchscreen operation and manual buttons for the sound system. The latter is actually a lot better since it allows you to keep your eyes on the road at all times. Other standard features include rearview camera and Bluetooth. The other features are added as you go up to higher trim levels.

2017 Toyota Tundra: Trims And Prices

The trim level is where things also become interesting for the 2017 Toyota Tundra as it comes six trims from the base SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro. The price starts at $30,020 for the base trim and $33,430 for the SR5. If you prefer to move to the higher trims, you will just have to be ready to shell out a bit more cash.

Reports state that the Limited trim has a price tag of $42,230 while the TRD Pro and Platinum have price tags of $43,395 and $50,030 respectively. Of course, the higher you go, the sweeter the deal becomes as more features are thrown into the pot. However, at the end of the day, the freedom is yours to choose which trim suits you the most.
