Sony has announced that it will be pulling out support for its PlayStation Now streaming services for its legacy devices which include PlayStation TV, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. PlayStation Now which allows subscribers to stream over 450 games with needing game discs will now be only supported on PS4 and Windows PC.

Sony announced in an official blog post that the company will be focusing on the two platforms and has pared down other previously supported devices. Current saved data can be accessed from the cloud on both Windows PC and PS4 ensuring that players’ efforts on games will not go to waste.

Starting August, the following devices will no longer have PlayStation Now support: PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV, all Sony Blu-ray players, Sony Bravia models 2013, 2014 and 2015 and all Samsung TV models. Sony urges all gamers who use these devices as their primary system for PlayStation Now to disable the feature that automatically renews subscription. By disabling the auto-renewal feature, gamers will not be charged for the service after the devices are dropped from PS Now support.

Most subscribers have time to cancel the service before Sony drops support for their devices as PS Now uses one or three-month intervals of subscription for customers. There are no news as of yet whether those who have purchased a three-month extension and will cross over the deadline of whether the subscribers will be refunded, as published by TechRadar.

Sony PlayStation Now services allow players to access and play old PS3 games via cloud-based technology to stream these games to PS4, PS Vita and PS TV and selected Smart TVs. The service was first introduced in 2015, PS Now has seen hundreds of classic titles added to the service.
