Huawei Mate 9 Undergoes Torture Test, Proves To Be Sturdier Than Predecessors

Android lovers know for a fact that Huawei is one solid option when it comes to powerful smartphones. However, it's not all the time that the company is able to produce sturdy and durable hardware. YouTuber JerryRigEverything said that among the few phones that didn't pass his torture tests, Huawei takes two slots. Fortunately, though, the Huawei Mate 9 seems to be a very big improvement over its older siblings. In fact, it's durability is on par with its direct competitors.

Huawei Mate 9 Scratch And Burn Test

For the screen scratch test, the Huawei Mate 9 scratches at a level-6 sharpness, just like most phones. When it comes to hardware material, this smartphone is generally made of metal, making it very durable. The only plastic portions of the Huawei Mate 9 is the back panel's top and bottom part, but this is for the signal to go through properly, so there's no reason for the company to use metal for these parts.

Moreover, the smartphone's camera glass isn't easily scratched by a blade. Flame-test also shows that the Huawei Mate 9's IPS LCD display can also surpass short-term exposure to fire. It took quite a long time before the flame caused a black spot on the screen and that spot immediately vanished after the exposure. The phone's fingerprint sensor, on the other hand, may be easily scratched when purposely tortured but this shouldn't pose a big problem considering that the fingerprint scanner isn't usually a victim of scratch accidents.

Huawei Mate 9 Bend Test

For the bend test, the Huawei Mate 9 proves to be a sturdy smartphone. When the phone was bent with its screen facing upwards, you can actually see the glass separates from the metal. However, the phone still works properly after that. Bending the Mate 9 the other way around proves to be a more difficult manner to destroy the phone. The metal is clearly sturdy enough to make the phone solid as a whole.
