Google Glass Twitter App Confirmed

Add Twitter to the list of high-profile companies who've already developed native apps for Google Glass.

TechCrunch reported yesterday that someone had posted photos through a Twitter client that was designated "Twitter for Glass." The Twitter account was promptly deleted, but today, CNET reported an apparent independent confirmation of the Google Glass Twitter app.

CNET reporter Daniel Terdiman simply asked LeWeb founder Loïc Le Meur whether he was using the Twitter Google Glass app to post his tweets. Le Meur responded, "Yes." Appropriately, the exchange transpired over Twitter. Le Meur further validated the Twitter rumor by retweeting CNET's story on the matter with the comment, "Yup, Twitter's app for Google Glass is for real."

The photo that sparked the whole situation can be found here.

The revelation of a Twitter Google Glass app begs an interesting question: what's the input mode? The mechanics of posting a photograph with Glass are clear, but Twitter has always been more about text rather than images. CNET speculates on a couple possibilities. The obvious solution is voice-recognition, but this would be a flawed implementation on several levels. For one, voice recognition software is far from perfect as Siri will attest to, or at least lie about. But even if voice recognition software had 100 percent accuracy, it still wouldn't solve the problem of people looking schizophrenic while dictating missives to their eyewear.

In any case, it would be surprising to see Google Glass launch without integration for most popular social media platforms. Let's not forget, at the end of the day, Glass is still another Android device.
