Famous Devs To Go On A 16 Player Quake Tournament At DICE 2017

DICE or (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) is a summit that brings together all the leading video game developers, producers, and business leaders to discuss topics surrounding the gaming industry. However, DICE 2017 is shaping up to be one of the best on record yet, as this year, FaceIt will be holding their second QuakeWorld Tournament in the summit.

FaceIt's plan

According to, ShackNews, FaceIt is making this year's QuakeWorld something to remember, as they have invited famous gaming icons to a one-on-one tournament of Quake. With news like this spreading around, a lot of members from the gaming community expressed their excitement to see the developers and publishers of their favourite games go toe to toe with their colleagues.

In an article by PC Gamer, FaceIt invited famous gaming icons and business leaders such as Jeffrey Kaplan from Blizzard, Randy Pitchford from Gearbox, Tim Willits from id Software, Ted Price from Insomniac Games, Sean Dunn from Sparkypants, Feargus Urquhart from Obsidian, Min Kim from Bonfire Studios, Shekhar Dhupelia from Wargaming, Leo Olebe from Facebook, Matt Firor from ZeniMax, David Wood from Bandai Namco, Niccolo Maisto from FaceIt, Sheloman Byrd from Tencent, Kate Edwards from IGDA, Patrick Hudson from Robot Entertainment, and Steve Ellmore from Disbelief.

Quakeworld Tournament

FaceIt has made sure that the tournament match ups are as fair as it can be. They plan to have multiple matches where Sean Dunn will go up against Shekhar Dhupelia, Feargus Urquhart against Patrick Hudson, Randy Pitchford against Leo Olebe, Ted Price against David Wood, Min Kim against Sheloman Byrd, Kate Edwards against Tim Willits, Niccolo Maisto against Matt Firor, and Jeffrey Kaplan against Steve Ellmore.

The tournament will start on February 22, 2017 at 10:50 am PT and will continue onto the next day, as the semi-finals and the grand finals is scheduled to happen by then. The semi-finals and the grand finals will start at 3:15 pm PT, and for all those who would like to watch the entire tournament, it can be viewed live on FaceIt's Twitch Channel.
