CyanogenMod 10.1 RC1 Build Available For Download, Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, Note Support

CyanogenMod released a more stable version of its 10.1 custom firmware, the Release Candidate (RC1) build. This follows up the previous CyanogenMod nightly builds, which were not as stable.

The CyanogenMod team said Wednesday that a final version of the 10.1 build is getting closer to completion. Until then, the Release Candidate builds are available for installation. The CyanogenMod 10.1 build, based on Android 4.2.2, may or may not see a few more milestone releases before the final release.

"We haven't used the 'Release Candidate' nomenclature since the ICS days, but we feel the 10.1 branch is quickly approaching the point where a 'final' build is due. To prepare for that eventuality, RC1 builds for CyanogenMod 10.1.0 are now landing on our servers!" Cyanogenmod said on its website.

Last week CyanogenMod founder and former Samsung employee Steve Kondik announced the first nightly build for the T-Mobile-branded Samsung Galaxy S4, model SGH-M919. Once the CyanogenMod team gets the other Galaxy S4 variants, including the GT-I9505, those will be supported as well. This was great news to many Galaxy S4 owners, since it was uncertain if CyanogenMod would ever offer support for the Galaxy S4.

The CyanogenMod 10.1 RC1 build supports Samsung Galaxy S3 carrier-branded devices from AT&T, Cricket, MetroPCS, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. It also supports the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 as well as the AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy Note smartphones.

Tablets such as the Acer 700, Asus Transformer Pad, Amazon Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 (both Wi-Fi and GSM) and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (both Wi-F- and GSM) are also supported. For the full list of devices supported by the CyanogenMod 10.1 RC1 build, click here or you can also browse the RC files here
