‘My Hero Academia' Season 2 New Trailer Released; Manga Ranks 3rd In U.S.

“My Hero Academia”, otherwise called “Boku No Hero Academia’ is gearing up for a new season. The anime series has been slated to release a second season on April 1, 2017. To give fans a sneak peek of what the new anime series will be about, a trailer has been released.

“My Hero Academia” Season 2 Character Highlights

The new trailer for “My Hero Academia” featured the story as well as two characters. It highlighted the quirks of Eijiro Kirishima and Denki Kaminari, who will be voiced by Toshiki Masuda and Tasuku Hatanaka respectively. Eijiro is a red-haired student that has the quirk Hardening, which allows him to harden any part of his body and become almost invincible. Denki, on the other hand, has the Charge quirk, which gives him the power to absorb and give off electricity in any amount. Both of them are students of class 1-A of U.A. High School, a school for aspiring heroes.

Though the synopsis of “My Hero Academia” Season 2 has yet to be revealed, it is said that it will commence with the Sports Festival Arc then most likely follow the rest of the manga's story. Season 1 left off in the middle of Chapter 21 and it skipped nothing from the official manga story, making a perfect panel by panel adaptation of it in the anime series. The new season will reportedly have more episodes, in fact twice as many as the first season so fans are expecting 26 new episodes.

“My Hero Academia” Manga Is Popular In The U.S.

It is no surprise that a shounen manga story such as “My Hero Academia” will be popular outside Japan, even ranking third in the recent monthly BookScan Top 20 in the United States. It followed John Lewis’s “March” books, which took the first two spots. “Tokyo Ghoul” and “The Legend of Zelda: Legendary Edition Vol. 2” trailed behind at the fourth and fifth spots of Nielsen’s BookScan Top 20 Graphic Novels in February 2017.

The said rankings from BookScan is derived from the sales made in Barnes & Noble as well as other popular bookstores, may they be franchises or independent ones. “My Hero Academia” was created by Kohei Horikoshi and the manga is still ongoing, currently with 12 volumes and 128 chapters. It follows the story of Izuku Midoriya, a boy who possesses the One For All quirk and who aspires to be a great hero one day.
