Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Will Be Simpler To Play, Says Capcom

Capcom has shared the overall goal and direction of the upcoming Marvel vs Capcom Infinite installment and how it will affect the fighting game genre. Moreover, the company hopes that the game will reach a wide audience for its more simplistic nature

The Current Stance Of Fighting Games In The eSports Scene

According to PVP Live, Capcom Europe's COO Stuart Turner has shared the company's vision and purpose for the upcoming MvC fighting game. To begin with, he claimed that the initial struggle for making games for the fighting game genre is having to expand their audience by introducing new players. He also claimed that the important thing is that the genre remains "healthy" regardless if fans choose to play Street Fighter or even other titles like Injustice, Tekken and Mortal Kombat.

In line with this, Turner noted that the added exposure of eSports should help promote the growth of the fighting games. The genre itself is such a huge potential as a spectator event since the games are short and the competitors are skilled personalities. Because of these reasons, Capcom has had broadcasters sharing these tournaments via online streaming and traditional TV transmissions.

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Aims To Be More Simplistic

The COO believes that the upcoming MvC game will act as a great introduction for those who are not yet familiar with the franchise as it is generally simplistic and easier to play, as per Wccftech. Moreover, the installment will include many familiar faces from the Marvel Universe so it should also appeal to the younger audience.

The fighting genre as a whole has seemed to intimidate fans for its complex controls and precise timing to establish proper combos. With this in mind, it seems like Capcom might be tuning this down to allow more players to experience the genre without feeling too overwhelmed. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will be released in the latter half of 2017.
