Pokémon GO: Niantic Will Soon Introduce Redeemable Code Rewards

Thanks to a handful of dataminers, it is now clear that Niantic will soon introduce redeemable code rewards in the game. This system works fairly the same as one that can be found in Ingress, another location-based, augmented-reality mobile game created by Niantic.

Pokémon GO : Redeemable Rewards

A while ago, Go Hub has detailed their APK Mine of 0.59.1 which reveals astonishing new features for the game. Based on their findings, it was found out that Niantic will incorporate redeeming passcodes in the system in exchange for "something special." At that time, it wasn't clear as to what these "something special" is about until today.

Now, their dataminers have finally uncovered the redeemable rewards, which are currently being developed. These are as follows: Items, Avatar Swag, Pokémon Candy, Pokémon Egg, Pokémon, Stardust, PokéCoins. Note that while these rewards are all the confirmed existing items in the game files, do expect that all the said items wouldn't be readily available once the feature is active.

The info was retrieved from network of messages, which are being exchanged between Pokémon Go mobile app and Niantic servers. The message is called "RedeemPasscodeReward" which is translated on this following algorithm.

Based on the given data, Niantic is planning to make exclusive rewards in exchange for event participation. This is in-line on how the original series provides exclusive contents to the players. However, it is still unclear whether Niantic will follow on region-exclusive events, which are still prevalent in the original series.

How Redeemable Rewards Work

The most plausible way of incorporating exclusive rewards is by giving away passcodes to players that are eligible to partake on specific event such as promotional events, puzzles, etc. It is worth noting that Niantic incorporates the same system on Ingress, which proved to be successful on its community. As of the time of this writing, it is still unclear when and how the feature will be implemented on Pokémon GO.
