NBA Playgrounds To Bring Back The Traditional Basketball Arcade Experience

NBA Playgrounds aims to bring back the traditional arcade basketball tradition with its quirky streamlined gameplay and quirky avatars. Moreover, the game will also be arriving on the Nintendo Switch among other consoles.

NBA Playground Pays Homage To Extreme Sports Games

According to The Verge, developer Saber Interactive will be creating the new basketball game that trades the traditional gameplay for something more whimsical. Players will be able to perform various slam-dunks similar to that of the over-the-top basketball games like NBA Jam and NBA Street. It is also worth noting that the game is also licensed by the NBA.

Despite the change of gameplay, Playgrounds will still feature an ensemble cast of both modern and former NBA stars. The game will also provide both local and online multiplay while including a variety of cool-looking dunks and moves. The upcoming basketball installment also trades realistic-looking graphics for something much more animated and cartoon-like, which should match the overall mood of the game.

PVP Live reports that the game will also be arriving on the Switch so fans can play it on the go. The short teaser trailer shows off a bit of gameplay along with the exaggerated moves the basketball players could pull off. With this in mind, the game is fun enough for anyone to pick up but also contains a lot of depth for those who are looking for more experienced matches.

Luckily enough, fans will not have to wait too long for the game's release, as it will officially launch next month as a digital download. Not only will it arrive on the Nintendo Switch but also the PC, PS4 and Xbox One for the price of $20. In spite of this, there is still no word regarding whether it will be cross platform or not.
