Niantic To Add New Functionality To Stop Spoofing In Pokémon GO

Earlier this month, Niantic seems to have been purging the game from cheaters and the like - issuing three massive ban waves over the course of four months and security updates, which basically prevented some devices in using spoofing application and more. Today, the developers of Pokémon GO have announced that they will be imposing a new functionality which hopes to finally end spoofing in the game.

Pokémon GO : Anti-Spoofing?

In a twitter post, Niantic announced that the developers are now in the midst of adding a functionality that would hopefully stop spoofing. As of the time of this writing, Niantic hasn't issued details regarding the upcoming feature and how it would interact on all devices regardless if a spoofing application is installed or not. Nevertheless, Reddit users have some speculations regarding the functionality and how it would work.

For those most part, it is worth mentioning that a vast majority of Pokémon GO community uses spoofing application. This is simply because; it's highly convenient for a player, especially for one that has a hectic schedule throughout the week, to play the game and still manage to cope with his day-to-day activities. Now, the question is, would Niantic actually ban all of these players? Think again: with the number of active users dwindling over the past months, it is inconceivable that the company would further risk reducing its player-based by removing all these spoofing altogether.

Niantic's Possible Solution

With this in mind, it's safe to say that Niantic would ultimately adjust its system in order to accommodate these set of players - which led many to believe that the upcoming functionality would cater this type of players. To be precise, the new feature would likely be a "modified spoofing" function as stated in this thread.

However, players should take this with a grain of salt, as until the company releases the upcoming feature, all of these theories are nothing but mere speculations. As for the release date, the Niantic Support revealed that it would drop by the next Major Update, which, as for those that did not know, will drop in the next quarter of this year (most likely in the late of June).
