'Modern Family' Star Sarah Hyland Suffering From Anorexia? Actress Fires Back At Body Shamers

“Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland has been receiving backlash recently after many have noticed her extremely skinny body. The young star addressed the body shamers and explained her side.

Sarah Hyland is well known and loved for her role in the popular sitcom, “Modern Family” as Haley Dunphy. The young actress has also landed a role in the newly released ABC remake of the 1987 “Dirty Dancing” movie. Despite her rise to stardom, she is being flocked with hate after several people accused her of promoting anorexia, which is a serious eating disorder.

Hyland was disheartened with the sudden and unexpected backlash that she has decided to address the issue. Aside from refuting claims that she is promoting anorexia, she also revealed that she has been battling a serious health problem for quite some time now. She took to Twitter to post a lengthy response to the backlash.

She voiced out she was never the one to comment but when people are trying to pull her down and are spreading negativity by pointing out her weight, she just could not sit still. She asked that she be given privacy but also pointed out that she is not having a great year, which brought in a lot of changes to her life, including physical changes. She further disclosed that she has been ordered to take bed rest for a few months and even lost a lot of muscle mass, which is why she is in a position where she cannot control her body weight.

She then headed on to explain that the recent photo she uploaded, which was the root of the weight backlash, was actually of her promoting her boyfriend’s apparel line of which its proceeds will go to an anti-bully alliance. The "Modern Family" actress said she had no intention of promoting anorexia and though the hate did not affect her, she was afraid that it would affect others. Hyland emphasized that she will remain strong and healthy despite what people may think.
