2018 Kia Stinger Braves Nürburgring Nordschleife Race Track

The 2018 Kia Stinger just ran the Nürburgring's Nordschleife and left a lasting impression. The Kia Stinger went against stereotype to finish The Green Hell.

The 2018 Kia Stinger was able to complete the 12.3-mile Nürburgring's Nordschleife without any problems mainly due to its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine that's capable of 255 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The more powerful version of the Kia Stinger comes with a 3.3-liter V-6 rated at 365hp and 376 lb-ft of torque.

The twin-turbocharged GT version of the Kia Stinger provided an impressive driving experience especially on the treacherous North Loop of the Nürburgring's Nordschleife, according to Forbes. The Forbes reporter, who was lucky enough to drive on the famed Green Hell on board a Kia, noted how the 2018 Stinger felt like it did accelerate from 0 to 6o mph in just 4.9 seconds, which the company claims.

The 2018 Kia Stinger also responded well to the driver's every command. In fact, the reported mentioned thinking how "stable and predictable" the Stinger was during his run. Other factors that Forbes was impressed with was the Stinger's high-speed stability courtesy of its amazing suspensions and aerodynamic design, and the multi-piston Brembo brakes which he described as "nearly unflappable."

Aside from doing well on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife, the 2018 Kia Stinger has other features that make it arguably the best Kia so far. As Car and Driver pointed out, the Kia Stinger is designed with some swag and a lot of inspiration coming from the Maserati Ghibli. The Stinger also sports a 114.4-inch wheelbase which is four inches more than that of the BMW 3-series.

The NextEV Nio EP9 currently holds the fastest lap time on the Nürburgring's Nordschleife with 6:45.90. The lap time of the 2018 Kia Stinger is nowhere near that mark but it still proved that it can run well on such a challenging race track.

The 2018 Kia Stinger can be purchased for $33,000. It will go on sale in the United States this coming December.
