Gamers can finally rest easier knowing that they can now pre-order The Last of Us 2.
The sequel has been long-awaited by fans who have played the first game which was released in 2013. Naughty Dog's The Last of Us became such a massive hit that it had gained millions of followers around the world.
The Last of Us 2 by Naughty Dogs is now available for pre-order on Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop.
With the imminent release of The Last of Us 2, the game producers have finally shown another trailer for the game. The trailer was released during the recent State of Play event where Naughty Dog has also announced the official release date.
Besides ensuring you get your hands on a copy of the game first when it's finally released, those who pre-order The Last of Us 2 will also get some goodies. Regardless of which edition you pick, you'll get two in-game bonuses when the game launches. Fans can get the Crafting Training Manual, which gives you access to new upgrades and crafting recipes, and the Ammo Capacity Upgrade that grants more bullets for Ellie's pistol.
But perhaps the most popular edition as of now is the Ellie edition. It includes a recreation of Ellie's backpack which is fully-sized and fully-functional, a 12-inch Ellie statue, 48-page mini art book created by Dark Horse, a 7-inch vinyl record that includes the original track from the game, a replica of Ellie's bracelet that you can totally wear, six enamel pins, a SteelBook case, a set of stickers, lithograph art print, and an embroidered patch.
The Last of Us 2 - Ellie edition is a US-only edition as of now. It is available on Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop at $229.99.
But apart from the start of pre-ordering, fans are also thrilled to see the new trailer from the game. As with the first game, Naughty Dog will be bringing stellar storytelling that the game is well-known for.
Most of all, it seemed that the game producers had fixed a problem with the first game. In The Last of Us 2, Ellie's companions will finally be of help.
In the first game installment, we've met several unique characters. While they help make the story flow, they aren't that helpful during the gameplay itself. That leaves Ellie fending for herself and fighting the many threats around her.
Fortunately, in the second game, these new characters will be able to do stealth kills on their own. And that's just one of the stuff they can do.
"They have their own pretty nuanced melee system where they can interact with enemies in melee," said co-director Anthony Newman. As with the first game, these additional characters can help you and rescue you when needed.
Newman said that the characters are "more nuanced" for this installment.
Additionally, Naughty Dogs has created a new technology for the game. Speaking with Polygon, Newman introduced the heartbeat system used in the game. It won't be a massive part of the gameplay--there's no need to keep a steady heartbeat.

However, it changes the way you play. Each character has a heartbeat that affects the sounds they make. For example, merely being near her enemies will make Ellie's breathing much faster. Therefore, every action created in the game will affect their heartbeat, and ultimately, their breathing pattern.
The Last of Us 2 is going to be released on February 21, 2020.
