Playing puzzle games represents a great way to relax after a long day at work or even during breaks. Or how about those moments when you're cooking a soup, and there's not much to do as the vegetables are boiling in water? Grabbing your phone and playing a challenging puzzle game will surely take your boredom away.

Frequently playing puzzle games is also seen as a great way of keeping our brains active and sharp over the years and even when we get old. There are so many ways to do that through puzzle games, regardless of our choice: Sudoku, Chess, Crosswords, and many more. Today we'll speak more elaborated about our top recommendations:

Tetris

Tetris is one of the simplest puzzle games, although it can become extremely difficult sometimes. This game gets the player to manoeuvre bricks of different shapes that come falling down, as he has to put them in the correct position to fill an entire row. Once the row is filled, the pile decreases and leaves more space for you to build. You lose the game when there is no space left to build.

You don't have to compete with anybody in Tetris, and that's arguably the best part of it. The worst part is that you'll still ultimately lose in the end, regardless of what you do. You only have to achieve as many points as possible. Play Tetris on Arkadium.

Crosswords

Playing a crossword puzzle is also a great way to improve your language skills. A crossword is practically a word puzzle that will usually take the form of a rectangular grid or square. There are a lot of tiny squares there, and the goal of the game is to fill a part of the squares with letters by solving clues to form words and phrases.

Playing crossword puzzles also has other huge benefits, such as releasing stress, improving mental health, and maintaining social bonds.

Hangman

If you always wanted to save a poor man from the gallow, now's your chance! One player in the Hangman game will have to think of a word or phrase, while the others will have to guess what it is one letter at a time. The player will have to draw several dashes equivalent to the number of letters that the word has. As soon as a guessing player suggests a letter that's present in the word, another player will have to fill in the blanks using the letter in the right places.

Chess

Chess is a fantastic mind game that you will surely love once you get used to it! Two players at a time will have to face each other, and each of them will have an entire army at his disposal. Using one move at a time, each player will have to use a large series of options to eliminate his opponent. One of the ways is to carefully take down several pieces from the adversary's army, such as the Rooks, the Queen, the Bishops, or the Knights. But even if you take down the big pieces, there's still a chance to lose the game if your opponent is a Chess grandmaster. Obviously, this latter scenario would be extremely frustrating, but it also adds to the beauty of the game. Just to get another idea of how insanely complicated Chess is, you must know that the possibilities of a Knight's tour exceed 122 million moves. Addicting Games hosts a large collection of Chess games that you can browse and play immediately on the web.

We would be happy to know about your own options when it comes to puzzle games you enjoy playing. There are so many others out there that we didn't mention in this article. Let us know in a comment below what do you like to play!
