Running a charity can be incredibly rewarding. Not only do you get to potentially meet people and engage in some great activities, but you can also see how your work is benefitting those in need. Whether your charity aids people, animals, or even the environment, there may be some aspects that are cutting into your team's time. When working in the non-profit sector, you want to utilise any time you do have as much as possible to focus on the charitable tasks, rather than those that go on behind the scenes.

HR Systems

Implementing user-friendly HR systems for charities can help to streamline some of the work that your HR team needs to do. Whether this involves the onboarding of new team members, or even keeping an eye on when members are going to be away on vacation, it can be easier to input and view this information on a singular system, rather than needing to deal with mounds of paperwork that can be lost within filing cabinets. On top of this, it can also allow your team to access valuable training modules, and even charity information, that can allow them to work more efficiently, as well as understand what needs to be done even when applying these methods remotely.

Having a Website

While word of mouth and physical advertising can be useful, you may be more likely to spread the word of what your charity does, as well as how to donate, by having a website. This can allow members of the public to better understand the work you do, as well as give them a secure way of sending money to aid in that work, whether on a one-time basis or even through repeated monthly payments. You will also then be better equipped to gauge just how far your reach is, through seeing how many hits each page has on a daily basis, and even potentially gain a small amount of revenue through the placement of external advertisements.

Engaging with Social Media

When you consider that approximately 3.96 billion people, or 50.6% of the global population, use social media, it is already evident that this can be a fantastic way to help you reach even further. In addition to this, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even LinkedIn, can help you to connect with like-minded users who may have suggestions for improving your charity, or even want to partake in fundraising themselves. The communication aspects of these platforms will allow you to take part in discussions, and further educate the population on the work that you do, alongside the importance of it. Regular updates and even social media advertising can help to keep people engaged, as well as to bring new viewers into the fold.

While some traditional practices may still help your charity, modernising others through the use of available technologies can help dramatically. Cutting down the workload of any administrative or marketing tasks will leave your team with more time to put into the helpful work itself.
