Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Released Date Announced — When Will It Be?

Activision Blizzard's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, is confirmed to be releasing this year.

Call of Duty has hooked numerous fans into the game, and finally, fans are getting their long-awaited sequel before the year ends.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to the 2019 remake of Modern Warfare, which is based on the original 2009 game.

PC Gamer reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28. Today, March 25, Call of Duty posted a video on their official Twitter account. The promotional clip shows a seaport setting with a huge ship crossing over a bridge.

The huge ship has containers with banner art of characters plastered on them, shot from a drone perspective. As the ship nears the docking port, the banner art for Modern Warfare 2 completes its pieces.

The tweet that was published earlier stated, "# Modern Warfare 2 Ships October 28th."

Activision Blizzard promoted the release in a unique and extra way. Activision showed off the banner art for Modern Warfare 2 in a way that has never been done before. They put an oversized version of the image on a shipping boat and docked it so that the whole image could be seen. As shown in the video, the banner art highlights a skull. The tweet also included a skull.

This skull symbolizes a playable character named Ghost in Call of Duty. The Ghost came back as a playable character in Call of Duty: Warzone a few years ago, but it looks like he'll have a bigger role in this new campaign, which might have a similar plot to the first one from 2009 but will be mostly its own thing. Numerous fans who have been waiting for this sequel are definitely excited. However, there is also no denying that the one-minute teaser video is also confusing.

It is expected that there are easter eggs in the video, assuming that maybe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have adventures around the shipping yard. Furthermore, Comic Book reported that the game will also be coming to consoles from the last generation later this year.

In addition, it is also speculated that if the game comes out on October 28th of this year, leaks suggest that there will be a beta test before that. Following the previous release of Call of Duty, the beta will probably happen in August or September, along with a bigger announcement about multiplayer.

Call of Duty's Next Sequel

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was made official by Activision Blizzard earlier this year. The first confirmation was in February, followed by the tweet from the official account of Call of Duty, revealing its logo last month.

As previously reported by IGN, Infinity Ward will be in charge of the annual franchise of the game, which will be a follow-up to the 2019 reboot.

There have been earlier rumors about Modern Warfare 2. It was speculated that the game's main focus would be on U.S. special forces fighting against a Colombian drug cartel.

After Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard, this could also be the last Call of Duty game that comes out every year. According to reports, the 2023 Call of Duty game will come out in 2024, and the series may no longer come out every year.

Reports also say that Activision Blizzard plans to keep the next three Call of Duty games playable on more than one platform.
