UK retailer Carphone Warehouse is now retailing the Nokia Lumia 520 at a discounted price of only £79.95 on pay as you go.

The Lumia 520 is one of the most popular entry-level Windows Phone 8 (WP8)-powered handsets. The device gives users basic smartphone functionality at a pocket friendly price. The Nokia Lumia 520 is among the best selling WP8 smartphones globally.

"The stats show the continuing ascendency of the Nokia Lumia 520, which is now 18% of all Windows Phones in use, and 27% of all Windows Phone 8 handsets in use ie. close to 1/5 Windows Phones are the 520 and 1/3 Windows Phones sold in the last year are the 520, making it a certified Windows Phone hit," reports WMPower User (per data received from AdDuplex).

Carphone Warehouse has reduced the price of the handset by £20 to get to the current price. The retailer is also offering an upgrade option where you can get the handset for only £59.95.

Originally, Nokia launched the Lumia 520 in five color options: red, yellow, blue, white and black. Customers who want to take advantage of the price reduction will have to miss the yellow and red colors as Carphone Warehouse has only the blue, white and black colors on offer.

Nokia is the most aggressive WP8 maker in the smartphone space. The company has released a number of entry-level to top-end WP8 smartphones after its launch last year. The Finnish company has the biggest range of WP8 smartphones on offer.

The Lumia 520 was initially launched in select Asian countries and then made its way to European and North American destinations. The popularity of the handset also saw Nokia launching a T-Mobile exclusive version of the smartphone, the Lumia 521. Even though the Lumia 520 is placed as an entry-level device, its highly-sensitive touchscreen can also be used while wearing gloves.

Carphone Warehouse is offering the Nokia Lumia 520 on various UK carriers like O2, Orange, Three and more.
