Microsoft Lumia 435 on sale in the UK for £74.95 unlocked, SIM-free

The entry-level Microsoft Lumia 435 is now officially available unlocked and SIM-free in the UK for £74.95 including taxes, ready to ship the next day.

The Microsoft Lumia 435 made its official debut back in January, arriving as the most affordable Lumia smartphone ever. The handset comes with modest specifications on board, aiming to attract first-time smartphone buyers or budget shippers looking for a cheap and reliable device. Nevertheless, the Lumia 435 packs good specifications for its category, and Microsoft also promised to update the handset regularly so users can benefit from the latest software enhancements.

Just earlier this month, Amazon started taking pre-orders for the unlocked, SIM-free Microsoft Lumia 435 in the UK, listing the device for £88.49. Amazon said at the time that it expected to start shipping the device on or around March 1, but another retailer has now started selling the Lumia 435 in the country.

More specifically, UK retailer Unlocked Mobiles now has the unlocked Microsoft Lumia 435 in stock and ready to ship the next day, and is offering the device for £74.95 including taxes. Amazon, meanwhile, still lists the Lumia 435 at £88.49, with shipping set for March 1. Both Unlocked Mobiles and Amazon UK offer the Lumia 435 in black, orange, or green color options.

As a reminder, the entry-level Microsoft Lumia 435 sports a 4-inch WVGA display with a modest resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM. Other specs include 8GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory of 128GB, a 2-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front shooter, and a 1,560 mAh battery.

On the software side, the Microsoft Lumia 435 comes with Windows Phone 8.1 on board out of the box, complete with the Lumia Denim update. This means that Microsoft's digital assistant Cortana is in the mix as well, among other neat software features.

All in all, the Microsoft Lumia 435 does not pack any high-end specs on board, but it's the cheapest Lumia to date and should offer a good performance for that price tag. To get a better idea of the handset, check out the video below.
