Pokémon GO Plus Can Actually Catch Pokemon; Accessory Has XP For Pokestops Checking, Spinning; Price Revealed

Pokémon Go Plus, the teardrop device, can actually catch new Pokemon. The opaque button in the center will flash yellow if a new Pokemon has been spotted spawning nearby. The accessory also includes XP for checking in at Pokéstops, enabling not only visiting but also spinning the Pokestops.

Pokémon Go Plus was created by Nintendo as a complementary accessory to the AR game by Niantic, together with iOS or Android phones. The wearable accessory has a few features that were included as a surprise to the item.

The Pokémon Go Plus is a companion to the new Buddy System feature of "Pokémon Go", for catching Pokemon and Pokéstops. The accessory will vibrate or light up when an old or new Pokémon is nearby and a click of the button enables acquiring potions, Poke balls, and miscellany from Pokéstops.

The Pokémon GO Plus can be worn as a bracelet, pinned to clothes, or attached to straps. The nifty device can track distance for Pokémon Eggs and for walking with a buddy Pokemon.

The feature was not initially confirmed to have any GPS functionality when it was first launched. It came as a surprise to be able to track the distance walked for hatching eggs and the buddy Pokémon. Niantic Labs confirmed in Twitter that the Pokémon Go Plus will have the global positioning system (GPS) feature.

Meanwhile, the Pokémon Go Plus is now available at GameStop stores, Amazon (no more pre-orders), eBay, and Nintendo UK starting at $35 while third-party sellers offer the accessory for $100.

Pokemon Go Plus, the Bluetooth Low Energy-enabled device can be attached to a belt, pocket, strap, or the lanyard bracelet that comes with the teardrop-shaped accessory. Pair it with an iOS or an Android phone to be able to play the game without having to look at the screen which was made to allow continuous gameplay even while walking, biking or running.
