Apple Patents Newest Product: A Paper Bag

Over the years, Apple has already patented an array of products; from remotely disabling iPhone cameras, Gear VR-style headsets, watch-controlled photography, and ultimately the concept of a bezel and rounded edges. Now, it takes us to a more interesting level - a paper bag. Simplistic yet eco-friendly.

Apple filed an application to patent a retail shopping bag on Monday. The "bag" will be completely made out of recycled paper.

Apple will use recyclable materials for the "bag." In fact, bags made out of recycled materials are not a new invention. Apple however intends to come up with a bag that will contain 10% more recyclable materials than the usual. This proportion might however weaken the structural integrity of the bag. Therefore, Apple will design the "bag" in such a way that will strengthen its pressure points.

Further, the existing white paper bags made out of recycled materials have the tendency to be flimsy. The reason for this is the amount of bleach used in them. Apple's "bag" will allow for number of alterations while keeping it white and environmentally friendly.

Some other alterations may include reinforcements at the fold and gussets as well as the bottom of the "bag". The handle "formed entirely of paper fibre yarn knitted in an 8-stitch circular knit pattern".

Apple has also been known to be a leader in innovating unique designs, therefore many are anticipating on the design of the "bag" too.

Apple's patent application is summarized below:

"A paper bag is disclosed. The paper bag may include a bag container formed of white solid bleached sulfate paper with at least 60% post-consumer content."

The patent has not yet been given to Apple to date.

Certainly, Apple fans will be anticipating more in the coming days as one of the leaders in technology embarks into newer and more interesting grounds.
