Instagram For iPhone 5 Updated – Live Filtering Yanked

Photo sharing app Instagram is now ready to deliver on Apple's latest iPhone 5 and iOS 6. Per reports, the company has upgraded the popular app to accommodate the latest iPhone 5's 4-inch screen and iOS 6.

"Instagram version 3.1 is available in the App Store!" the photo sharing app wrote in a tweet. "Updates for iOS 6, iPhone 5, and more. Android 3.1 coming soon."

The newest version of the app, version 3.1, will now let photos fill up the new device's entire screen, along with an updated registration process for new users. Since the iPhone's width remains same, the photos aren't bigger, but more comments can be seen when users scroll down. The password recovery has also been improved with the new update.

Facebook recently acquired Instagram for approximately $1 billion in cash and stock, and per multiple reports, the deal netted Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom $400 million based on his ownership stake in the business.

The new registration process will now work alongside Facebook and users can automatically fill up their Facebook information onto the Instagram profile. No Facebook login option currently exists and users will be required to have a separate username and password for Instagram.

However, a catch exists. According to a Next Web report, the updated version of Instagram has decided to remove live filtering, a feature which lets users select a filter while taking a photo. Moreover, Instagram intends on getting rid of the live filter view completely, starting with this new update.

"As of the current release (v3.1), Instagram does not support live filters on the iPhone 5. Going forward, live filters will be phased out as we work to improve the Instagram experience for all users," the company stated in its Help Center.

The new information regarding Instagram has arrived after it was previously reported that a Windows Phone version of the app is currently under development, and could soon arrive on the mobile platform.

The rumors came into being after Nokia revealed its Lumia 920 and mentioned the new exclusive app tiles' presence in all Lumia devices. The company also released a promotional video that could possibly be showing-off an Instagram live tile for Windows Phone.

Instagram is a free-to-download app and the update is available now in the iTunes App Store.
