Pokémon GO Halloween Update To Feature First Ever Event?

With Halloween getting closer, games across all platforms are now getting ready to release special events and content for the holiday. Pokémon GO is not an exception. Recently, Niantic teased that the first special event of the hit mobile game may be arriving at the end of the month.

Niantic tickled the interest of fans via a simple Facebook post. Aside from mentioning Halloween, the developer also stated a rather mysterious message.

"With Halloween around the corner, we anticipate Trainers may encounter more Pokémon in the real world," the post reads. "The AR camera is a great way to capture and share these encounters with your friends!"

Pokémon GO Holding First Ever Special Event Soon?

The Facebook post was taken to mean that the first Pokémon GO real-life event is happening on Halloween. According to Slashgear, Niantic has previously done this with their first augmented reality title Ingress.

Moreover, Niantic head John Hanke said back in September that players can pretty much predict the future by looking into the past.

"The events for Ingress are the lifeblood of the game," he told Venture Beat. "I think you can expect to see things like that in Pokémon Go. This type of game lends itself well to people coming together for big events that are part competitive, part social."

Pokémon GO Halloween Event Speculations

Reports suggest that Halloween is the perfect time to introduce the first event in Pokémon GO. The game is already over three months old and judging from the huge dip in the app's daily usage, players are losing interest. This may be the opportunity to lure them back in.

Should this rumor prove to be true, Niantic may hold a 24-hour event wherein Trainers may be tasked to do something, like catching a certain Pokemon. As of now, details are scarce and the developer still has yet to confirm these rumors.

More information about Pokémon GO's Halloween event should arrive soon.
