AI Beauty Pageant

Many people believe that beauty pageants are problematic since they focus most on the appearance of the contestants, promoting unrealistic beauty standards. Younger generations have been protesting the idea as some argue it is degrading.

While the AI pageant no longer needs human contestants, the idea is still there, and this time around, creators can generate their ideal appearance through text prompts. If anything, it just creates a more unattainable image of what being attractive looks like.

The contest, Miss AI, will be the first artificial intelligence beauty pageant to ever happen. It won't be some small contest either since the AI model, or rather its creator, will receive up to $20,000 in prizes, as reported by Interesting Engineering.

It was announced by the World AI Creator Awards (WAICA) in partnership with Fanvue, a platform similar to OnlyFans. WAICA expressed that the contest is a way to recognize the achievements of AI creators globally.

Not just anyone who knows how to generate an image can join the contest. To be a participant, the creator needs to have an established AI-generated model with a social media presence. They would also have to be 18 years old or above to be considered.

Just as traditional beauty contests are conducted, the creators will also be faced with questions, and their answers will be factored into the decision of who wins. The questions will revolve around the creation of the AI-generated model, how they can monetize its content, and so on.

It will mostly be tech-related as opposed to questions about how they can make the world a better place. Other things included in the criteria would be the AI tools used to generate the model, their attention to detail, and their poise.

The Miss AI winner will win $5,000 in cash, along with others that would total up to $20,000. Fanvue will provide access to a mentorship program that's supposedly worth $3,000, as well as PR support worth over $5,000 in value.

The runner-up will also get $5,000 in cash, but the PR support budget will be cut in half, and they will get an Imagine Education course valued at $500. Third place will grant the winner $2,000 in cash, a consultation call with Imagine Education valued at $500, and PR support.

Opposing Voices

It's expected that the pageant would receive backlash, especially now that artists and other creators are concerned over how generative can affect several industries. Journalist and content creator Danae Mercer posted a lengthy caption about how bad the pageant could be.

She expressed that it's absurd that we are celebrating a standard of beauty which can never be achieved in real life because it's not real. "Already AI influencers are doing some weird stuff, This just seems next level."
