New Xiaomi Flagship Could Be Priced Below $200, Latest Software System Revealed On Geekbench

A new Xiaomi handset codenamed as "riva" was spotted on Geekbench website today. Passing through the Geekbench listing and some of the alleged Xiaomi Riva specifications were revealed. Typically, the company announces only a few devices in the first half of the year, keeping all the devices due for second half of the year. The trend is continuing this 2017 as Xiaomi is saving budget smartphones such as Xiaomi Mi 6c, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, and so on.

It is reported that it will come powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform and reports claim it could be Snapdragon 427 or SD 425 or SD 415 chipsets, GSMarena reported. The above scores are a bit low and it's lower compared to the Redmi 4A's score on Geekbench. The Redmi 4A is the latest entry-level smartphone from the company powered by Snapdragon 425 chipset with a score of 670 and 1735 points on single core and multi-core tests, subsequently. Therefore, there is a rumor that Xiaomi Riva might be a lower variant of Redmi 4A or its successor edition. It could be driven by the same Snapdragon 425 chipset or Snapdragon 427 SoC. With such low specs, it may end up as the cheapest offering from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi Riva's Geekbench listing also confirms that the device has 3 GB of RAM and it will be running the latest version of Android i.e., Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box, as reported by Gizbot. Reports suggest that the Xiaomi riva might be an entry-level smartphone as Geekbench info hints at a budget-friendly device, and could be priced around below $200. Moreover, the company is believed to launch two flagship smartphones in the coming months.
