OxygenOS 4.1.7 Update For OnePlus 3, 3T Removes Hangouts App: Brings Security Patch, Touch Latency Improvements

OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 4.1.7 update to OnePlus and 3T devices. The latest OS update brings about much-awaited touch latency improvements to the smartphones. Apart from this, the OxygenOS 4.1.7 update also brings along battery optimisations and Android security patch for the month of August as well. However, if users have not updated Google Hangouts then with this update the app will be automatically removed with the update.

The OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphone users have started reporting the touch latency issues with the smartphones last year itself. The company claims that with the OxygenOS 4.1.7 update it has enhanced the system fluidity, brought battery optimisations, and updated the Android security patch updated to August, as reported by GSM Arena.

Alongside these changes, the OnePlus also claims to have fixed several bugs regarding the platform with the latest update. In a tweet posted on Tuesday, Carl Pei said: "Saw some confusion about this: OxygenOS 4.1.7 for 3/3T does indeed come with touch latency improvements."

OnePlus claims that by the request from Google the update will remove Hangouts from the core package in the case that it has never been updated so if the user wants to keep Hangouts on the OnePlus 3 or 3T then it is suggested to update it on the Play Store prior to installing the update. However, the users will also get the chance to download it from the play store later on.

The latest OxygenOS 4.1.7 update to the OnePlus 3 and 3T has been claimed to fix a sound channel error that showed up while recording videos. It is an issue where calls were being routed to speaker accidentally by some third-party apps, as reported by NDTV.

Notably, the OxygenOS 4.1.7 update brings the fix for the App Locker third party app issue. The update is already rolled out to several OnePlus 3 and 3T devices. However, if the user with to check for updates manually then he/she can check it via heading to Settings -> System Update.
