iPhone 7 Finally Gets a Headphone Jack, Thanks to Former Software Engineer
Scotty Allen, a former software engineer, has returned to spotlight with his newly crafted headphone jack that fits right into the iPhone 7.
Riding on his successful stint with building an iPhone 6s from scratch, the veteran iPhone designer has uploaded a new video on YouTube showcasing his latest project that took four months to complete.
Allen has reportedly procured all the necessary components for this project from Shenzhen, China. The final product is the result of modifying Apple branded Lightning to Headphone Adapter using a flexible printed circuit board (PCB).
It is learnt that Allen required at least three iPhones and a plethora of screens and internal components to complete the tedious and expensive project.
Although Allen's 3.5mm headphone jack is deemed to be fully-functional on the iPhone 7, it comes with a major limitation that will force device owners to use either the headphone jack or Lightning connector at a time.
