When Samsung announced the Galaxy S4, it promised that it would offer a wireless charging solution for the smartphone. That time has come and the company is now offering its Galaxy S4 wireless charging accessories on its online store. You'll need to buy a new battery cover along with a separate wireless pad to get the job done.
For the Galaxy S4 to gain wireless charging capabilities, users will be required to purchase a separate battery cover that Samsung is charging $39.99 for. When using the Samsung Wireless Charging Cover, Galaxy S4 users will be able to use any Qi-certified charging station to wirelessly charge the smartphone. Simply place the device on an inductive charging base and charging time usually takes between three to four hours to provide a charge when the smartphone is completely out of power. Samsung notes that the cover does add to the size of the Galaxy S4 and warns that some cases will no longer fit the smartphone while the inductive battery cover is being used.
The second wireless charging accessory is the Samsung Wireless Charging Pad. With the Wireless Charging Pad users can forget about ever having to plug in a microUSB cable to charge the Galaxy S4 when used with the Wireless Charging Cover. The Wireless Charging Pad features an LED indicator that will turn green if your smartphone is properly placed on the pad or yellow if your smartphone is not in the correct placement on the pad. Samsung is charging $49.99 for the Qi-certified Wireless Charging Pad and the accessory will also work with any Qi-enabled device. There are many smartphones currently on the market that have wireless charging included out of the box, so this pad will also be compatible with other devices besides the Galaxy S4.
Samsung has just added both accessories to its online store but at the moment is only offering the Wireless Charging Cover in white. Since the company offers the Galaxy S4 in choices of both black and white, the black cover is expected to hit the online store to match the all-black smartphone. The Wireless Charging Pad will be only offered in white.
