Entry-level BlackBerry Q5 launches in Germany

If you've been waiting to lay your hands on the entry-level BlackBerry Q5 and are in Germany, you can now do so as the QWERTY-equipped handset is available on the carrier O2.

O2, however, is only offering the phone in black even though BlackBerry launched the device in other colors namely: red, white and pink.

According to a CrackBerry report, the BlackBerry Q5 has "arrived in Germany courtesy of O2. Judging by the website, O2 opted to not pull in any of the color variants that the BlackBerry Q5 offers but instead went for the straight up black version only."

The BlackBerry Q5 will be available for €389 (approximately $585) off contract. However, if you opt for a monthly data plan then you could get the phone for as little as €20 (approximately $30).

The BlackBerry Q5 is the cheaper alternative for those looking for a QWERTY-equipped phone and unwilling to spend a bomb on the BlackBerry Q10. The handset sports a 3.1-inch screen and with 720 x 720 pixels resolution. The device weighs 120gms and has a 5-megapixel primary camera with HD video function. The NFC-enabled device is powered by a 1.2GHz processor and has 8 GB of on-board memory with additional memory support of up to 32Gb via a microSD card.

The BlackBerry Q5 was introduced earlier in May this year and was originally targeted at emerging markets. Earlier in July, the phone released in South Africa and the UK and is also expected to make its way to consumers in Latin America, Middle East and Asia.

However, if you're in the U.S. and want to grab the affordable phone be prepared to be disappointed as the BlackBerry Q5 will likely not retail in the country.
