Interested buyers can now pre-book the unlocked version of the recently-launched Nokia Lumia 1020 at a price of $735.50.
Online retailer Negri Electronics has now started to take pre-orders for the black, white and yellow versions of the Lumia 1020 and the handset is expected to ship on July 26.
The highly-anticipated Nokia Lumia 1020 is exclusive to AT&T in the U.S. As such, customers on other carriers will not be able to use the handset. However, earlier in May this year, Nokia launched the Lumia 925 exclusive to T-Mobile and the Lumia 928 is available only via Verizon.
Microsoft has its own pre-registration page for the Nokia Lumia 1020, but pre-registration is not the same as pre-order. It is not a confirmation that you will receive the handset on the release date. Pre-registration means that you will get regular updates regarding the smartphone, including its release date.
AT&T has also put up a landing page on its website where users can enter their email address to get regular updates on the Nokia Lumia 1020.
The Windows Phone 8 (WP8) powered Nokia Lumia 1020 packs top-end features to attract smartphone buyers, especially camera enthusiasts. The smartphone includes a whopping 41-megapixel rear-facing camera, which is one of its key features.
The Nokia Lumia 1020 sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with a 1,280 x 768 pixel resolution (16:9 aspect ratio) and a pixel density of 334 pixels per inch (ppi). A 1.5-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor powers the latest Lumia handset.
The smartphone can also shoot HD video in 1080p at 30 frames per second (fps), while a 2,000 mAh battery will provide up to 13.3 hours of talk time on 3G and up to 384 hours of standby time.
The screen of the Lumia 1020 is made from supersensitive Gorilla Glass 3 and users will be able to operate the smartphone even while wearing gloves. The handset weighs 5.57 ounces and measures 5.13 x 2.81 x 0.41 inches
AT&T users will be happy to have the Lumia 1020 in the carrier's smartphone portfolio. However, time will tell whether the new 41-megapixel handset is able to attract many smartphone buyers.
