The recently launched Nokia Lumia 1020 has recently gone up for pre-order on AT&T and new leaks suggest that the handset will soon be available in a red avatar.
The Lumia 1020 has been one of the most-anticipated Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones of this year. The Finnish company launched the handset only in three colors: black, white and yellow. However, a Twitter post from famous leakster @evleaks shows the handset dressed in bright red color.
"@evleaks ah crap, if this is true, then I might hold off on buying yellow," replied to @evleak's post on Twitter.
The latest Nokia offering has attracted many customers with its top-end 41-megapixel rear-facing camera. The red color may attract even more customers who are looking to buy a new smartphone in the near term.
Nokia Lumia smartphones are well-known in the smartphone space for the array of vibrant colors they are available in. Customers who want to buy the Lumia 1020 may find the color choice limited when compared to the Lumia 920 as the former is available in five color options: black, white, yellow, cyan and red.
It seems that the red color is attracting many smartphone customers. The Sony Xperia ZL is available in a red color. HTC launched its flagship smartphone, the HTC One, only in two colors but also released the handset in a "Glamour Red" color option in the UK.
Similarly, Samsung also added the "Aurora Red" color to the highly popular Galaxy S4 recently.
Color may not be the only reason why a customer buys a smartphone, but a handset in various colors definitely gives a customer more choice. The iPhone has always been available in either black or white colors. Recent rumors suggest that the upcoming budget iPhone may be available in a variety of new colors like yellow, green, blue and pink.
Neither Nokia nor AT&T have confirmed the red color for the Lumia 1020. As such, we don't know if the red avatar of the Lumia 1020 will actually make its appearance. However, we can hope that the company officially announces the red version of the handset soon.
