NBAxNFT Details

According to Bitcoin.com's report, the NBA created the NBAxNFT Discord server and Twitter account to showcase all things basketball and Web3, which includes the Metaverse, gaming, and NFT collectibles, per the NBAxNFT Twitter account.

The server and account seem to serve as the league's bulletin board to keep NBA fans updated with insights into its latest and upcoming events, such as basketball games, NFT projects, and other related topics. In fact, the league is already discussing an NFT project that utilizes Ethereum NFTs to celebrate the NBA playoffs on the Discord server, per FXEmpire and COINCU News.

"To give you a heads up, we're working on an NFT project to celebrate the NBA Playoffs," the NBA said in its announcement on the NBA non-fungible token initiative. "We're not quite ready to announce the specifics just yet, but they'll be announced soon."

Golden State Warriors NFT Collection Launch

The launch of the NBAxNFT Discord server and Twitter account follows the Golden State Warriors' (GSW) second NFT collection to commemorate the team's 2022 NBA Playoff run.

According to a separate Bitcoin.com article, This GSW NFT compilation is being called "a responsive NFT collection" due to them changing based on real performance. In fact, every time the GSW wins a 2022 playoff series, the responsive NFTs will change by unlocking new utilities and benefits.

There are a total of 3,000 GSW Playoff NFTs with 12 different designs, which have a unique level of rarity and special utilities offered. These NFTs can serve as fan access to member-only benefits, exclusive GSW merchandise, and white-list access to future NFT drops.

You can also unlock a chance to ride on the Warriors' Championship Float or win NBA tickets based on the rarity of the GSW NFT you have. You can also win additional NFT collectibles, autographed team memorabilia, exclusive NBA Playoff merchandise, and even championship rings.

The launch of GSW's latest NFT compilation was previously announced on April 15 at noon PDT through the FTX US NFT marketplace.

NBA Has An NFT Of Its Own

The NBA previously released an NFT called "Top Shot," in 2021 which is a trading card system that works like trading cards with only NBA highlights and digital artwork, per CNBC.

Top Shot is built on the FLOW blockchain to create scarcity for itself.

The league partnered with Dapper Labs of CryptoKitties fame to make develop and launch the Top Shot NFT digital asset. However, the NBA didn't disclose if Dapper Labs will be involved in its Ethereum-based NFT project.
