Meta To Open First Retail Store To Get More People To Join the Metaverse — When Is It Opening?

Meta has been increasing its efforts to capitalize and take advantage of its capabilities to showcase the Metaverse in its products. One of which is a store where you can buy the company's hardware to get a hands-on experience in everything Meta.

That's right. Meta has a store that sells its hardware.

According to the company's announcement, it is opening its first physical retail space on its campus in Burlingame, California, on May 9 for you to either test out its hardware or buy them afterward.

The store is said to offer Meta's Ray-Ban Stories, Quest 2 VR kit, and Portal.

Meta Store Details

Meta's announcement mentioned that people interested in visiting its 1,550 square feet store would experience all of its hardware through interactive demos. As such, you can make video calls to retail associates with Portal, learn how to use Ray-Ban Stories to help you stay connected with the world around you, and explore VR with the Quest 2.

"At the Meta Store, we want you to interact with everything. We want you to pick stuff up. We want you to feel it," Meta said in its announcement.

The store not only lets you try out Meta's hardware, but it also gives you the space and environment necessary for you to get a complete experience of the capabilities of its hardware.

For instance, if you're interested in trying out the Quest 2, the Meta Store has an interactive Quest 2 display wall that allows you to explore its accessories, capabilities, and how much content it has available.

The store also has a Quest 2 demo area where you can try out VR games such as Beat Saber, Golf+, Real VR Fishing, or Supernatural on a large wall-to-wall curved LED screen that shows what you're seeing in the Quest 2's headset. You'll also get a 30-second mixed reality clip of your demo experience that shows what you're doing while in VR and the real world.

You can also share your 30-second clip with your friends if you so wish.

Meta's goal in creating the Meta Store is to show people what is possible with its products while giving "a glimpse into the future as the Metaverse comes to life while hopefully slightly demistifying the concept a bit in the process."

Martin Gilliard, Head of Meta Store, said that having the store at Meta's campus gives the store more opportunities to experiment and keep the customer experience core to its development.

Can You Buy Meta Hardware at the Store?

You may buy the Quest 2, its accessories, and Portal devices at the Meta Store starting May 9. It will also be open Monday through Friday from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PT.
