On May 11, Twitter announced the launch of a new web video game to help users better grasp its privacy policies. According to TechCrunch, the purpose of the game, dubbed Data Dash, is to educate people about the data that Twitter collects, how it is utilized, and what controls users have over it.

TechCrunch mentioned that when you first start the game, you'll be asked to select your preferred language. Following that, you'll be able to choose a character. The game involves assisting Data, a dog, in securely navigating "PrivaCity" by evading advertisements, avoiding spamming DMs, and avoiding Twitter trolls. You'll learn more about Twitter's privacy policy and what you can do to be secure on the platform as you complete each level.

Revamped Twitter Privacy Policy Website

As per Silicon Republic report, citing the company's statement, the social media giant's privacy policy has been amended to include less "legalese" and more easily understandable language. Data collection, data use, and data sharing are now the three main elements of the revised privacy policy website. The site also has answers to frequently asked questions.

Twitter also stated that it intends to improve its privacy iconography, which are visual symbols that reflect key security and privacy settings. The platform's purpose, according to the company, is to create "standardized privacy icons" for privacy settings, similar to how the magnifying glass is a well-known icon for search operations.

English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Russian are among the nine languages available on the new privacy policy website and game, which launched today.

TechCrunch noted that the announcement comes only one day after Twitter unveiled a new "Copypasta and Duplicate Content" policy that clarifies how the site combats spam and duplicate content. The social media platform initially said in August 2020 that it will limit the exposure of copypasta tweets, and now it's detailing what it considers a violation and what steps it's taking to reduce the visibility of such violations.

Future of Twitter

The future of Twitter is unknown, as it has agreed to be acquired by Elon Musk for $44 billion in a deal that will turn the platform private, Silicon Republic reported. Although it is unknown whether Musk will adjust Twitter's privacy settings, the billionaire has already stated his desire to revamp the platform.
