Nokia Lumia 520 now available on AT&T

Very recently AT&T announced that it will start offering the Nokia Lumia 520 and now you can order the handset from the carrier for $99.99.

The Nokia Lumia 520 will be the first Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone in the carrier's pre-paid service, GoPhone.

"We are excited to launch the first 4G Windows Phone 8 smartphone in our GoPhone portfolio," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president - Devices.  "A diverse device ecosystem benefits everyone, and the addition of an affordable Windows Phone device gives our customers yet another choice that fits their needs."

WP8 smartphones have attracted many customers looking out for an alternate to Android, iOS and BlackBerry. When the operating system was initially launched, it mainly appeared on top-end smartphones such as the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, HTC 8X and more. However, with a new operating system on board, not many customers will want to spend on a top-end handset.

The Nokia Lumia 520 may be ideal for customers looking to try out a WP8-powered handset at a pocket-friendly price, as it includes most of the features a customer would like to have in a smartphone.

Moreover, the Lumia 520 also touts some features that are not available on other smartphones in its category, such as the free MS Office app, which gives users easy access to Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The smartphone also has the Cinemagraph feature, which lets users add animations or motion to their images, making them fun and perfect for sharing on social networks.

There are only a handful of companies making WP8 smartphones and not all of them offer affordable handsets like the Lumia 520. The smartphone has been very popular in the Asian markets and recently, Nokia has also launched the T-Mobile version of the handset, the Lumia 521, in the country.

If you want to buy the Lumia 521 from T-Mobile, then you'll have to spend $29.99 upfront followed by 24 equal payments of $5.

If you are looking to buy a new WP8 smartphone for an affordable price from AT&T, the Lumia 520 may be a good fit.
