Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to debut on Sept.4?

Samsung is reportedly gearing up to take the wraps off its much-awaited Galaxy Note 3 phablet, which will succeed the best-selling Galaxy Note 2. According to reports, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 3 on Sept. 4 in Berlin, Germany, which is two days prior to the IFA 2013 event.

What's more, Samsung will also plunge into the smartwatch space and launch the Samsung Gear on the same day, alongside the new phablet.

The latest information is courtesy of Korean site Asiae.co.kr, which cites industry sources and reveals the announcement date for the Galaxy Note 3.

"According to Korea Media which has a good accuracy record confirms the release date of Note III and Samsung Gear. Both the devices will be released on September 4 Night in Berlin just two days before IFA2013," reports TechKiddy.

Previous rumors have hinted at a Sept. 6 launch for the Galaxy Note 3 and the Samsung Altius or Gear smartwatch, which coincides with the start of the IFA 2013 event.

"Samsung planning to release their new Galaxy Note III on September 6 alongside the debut of their new smart watch which is noted as being a 'Samsung Gear' smartphone accessory," noted a Patently Apple report in July.

The Samsung Gear smartwatch is expected to throw the gauntlet to rival Sony's smartwatch offering, as well as the impending iWatch from Apple. The latter is rumored to make a fall debut. Speculations are rife that Samsung wants to pip Apple to the race and unveil its smartwatch offering first.

We recently reported that images of what was believed to be a Galaxy Note 3 prototype had leaked online and showed the upcoming smartphone with rectangular corners and a square design. The phablet is expected to sport a bigger screen than its Galaxy Note 2 predecessor, reportedly sporting a 5.7-inch AMOLED 1080p display.

The Galaxy Note 3 will likely house the Snapdragon 800 processor and tout a 13-megapixel primary camera.  The smartphone is also speculated to come with the latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box. Rumors also point to Samsung releasing different variants of the Galaxy Note 3 for international and U.S. markets.

Whether Samsung will indeed unveil the Galaxy Note 3 earlier than expected on Sept. 4 remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
