Kojima's Announcement Details

Kojima mentioned in his announcement during Microsoft's latest Xbox and Bethesda showcase that he is working on a game he has always wanted to create, which will be like "no one has ever experienced before."

However, he noted that he couldn't develop the game the way he could now back then due to technological limitations at the time of the game's conceptualization.

Thankfully, Kojima said that he can now develop the game he wants to create in the manner he wants due to Microsoft's "cutting-edge" cloud technology, Azure. With a partnership with Microsoft under his belt, Kojima's new horror game is now in the early stages of adding the capabilities of Microsoft Azure and "change in the industry's trends" in some capacity, per IGN

"It's a completely new game that no one has ever experienced or seen before," Kojima said. "I've waited very long for the day when I could finally start to create it."

Kojima revealed that the game "may take some time" before it is ready to be released, which is to be expected.

It isn't known if Kojima's game will be an Xbox exclusive when it is released, but due to his partnering with Microsoft, the idea is highly probable to happen.

Should Kojima's game be released in the future, it will be the second game he developed since his separation from Konami in 2015. It would also be his first official horror game since the cancellation of his much-awaited Silent Hills game.

Kojima's New Horror Game

Kojima and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer didn't mention a title or show gameplay of the video game in question, per Polygon, but the game Kojima is developing could probably be the recently leaked Overdose

Overdose is allegedly a new horror game being developed by Hideo Kojima that will star Margaret Qualley, who played Mama in Kojima's other game, Death Stranding

While details about the game are sparse, Tom Henderson for Try Hard Games mentioned that he saw "early footage" of the game, in third-person, showing Qualley's character in a blue dress and roaming in dark corridors while holding a flashlight.

The details footage suggested that the game could be played in first-person too.

Kojima was last reported to have been negotiating with Microsoft to publish his next horror game, per Eurogamer.
