Meta Showcases a Future VR Headset in Concept Video

In a metaverse promotional video, Meta showcased a futuristic Virtual Reality (VR) headset.

It is not confirmed yet whether it is the actual product in development. However, the new device in the video appears to be more advanced than a Quest headset. It is also quite slimmer than the upcoming Cambria headset.

The fingertip sensors are also shown in the video, which can instantly identify the fingers location with great precision. It also offer a haptic response.

Meta's Futuristic Video Shows Peek Into the Future

The peek of the future were "found as part of Meta's pattern of posting a few videos each month that represent some near term hardware and other a bit further out to future VR headsets," according to the Digital Trends.

According to the Digital Trends, Meta previewed a time when "the metaverse might have a rendering quality" in the most futuristic video. Although this is highly possible someday, it's not easy to say when it would happen. There are three practical examples of the metaverse in the video.

Using the VR headset, it is possible for students to either be physically present or teleport into a seat when attending a lecture that's accessible through the metaverse. Then 3D objects can be manipulated by the professor.

There is also a video of medical student that's doing surgery on a virtual patient. The student is using an advanced VR headset and fingertip sensors. The sensors provide greater precision and haptic response. The training is useful for hand-on experience.

In another example, history coming to life can be observed. Modern students can be seen visiting ancient Rome. While walking around, the students can examine the scene like they are actually in it.

Another video showcased how VR affect the relationship of father and daughter. Despite being separated by nearly 2,000 miles, VR keeps them connected while fishing. The app appears to be Real VR Fishing, although Meta didn't identify the app. The app is a multiplayer fishing simulation. It is available for Quest and Quest 2 VR headsets.
