Papers, Please is Coming to Mobile Devices Next Month

One of the most popular indie games of all time is coming to mobile phones.

Indie game developer Lucas Pope recently announced on his official Twitter page that he is bringing his popular document-thriller game, Papers, Please, to mobile phones in the immediate future.

The game, which was previously released in 2013, was much beloved by the gaming community due to the many endings players can achieve in each playthrough, per NPR.

Papers, Please Mobile Port Details

Papers, Please game developer Lucas Pope mentioned on his official Twitter page that he is bringing the 2014-hit game to mobile phones in early August.

Pope's announcement didn't mention much about the game's mobile release as the announcement itself was very minimalistic and direct. However, Pope did reveal that the game will also be coming to video game consoles sometime in 2031 in a follow-up tweet. Whether this announcement is true or not remains a mystery as Pope may be making fun of the period between the game's initial release and its mobile port, per Game Rant.

Meanwhile, Engadget mentioned in its report that Pope also said on his Twitter page that he spent around eight months developing the game's mobile port.

He added that most of the work involved updating the user interface (UI) and minor tweaks to make the game playable on smaller screens.

Pope decided to prohibit players from zooming in the game to give them a "natural feel on a phone," and that because his vision was terrible.

The announcement of the game's mobile port almost happened on the game's ninth anniversary, as the original game was released on August 8, 2013, for the PC and Macs.

Papers, Please Mobile Port Availability, Price, And Release Date

Papers, Pease is set to be released on August 5, 2022, for Android and iOS devices, according to Android Police. Furthermore, in the pursuit of accessibility, the game's mobile port will also have the same language options the original PC version has, and it will cost $10.

Gamers that already have the game's iPad port can get its iOS version for free.

Papers, Please - A Quick Summary

Papers, Please puts you in the shoes of an unnamed immigration inspector who was assigned to process the documents of immigrants who wish to enter the communist state of Arstotzka from Kolechia, per the game's official website.

There, you will meet an assortment of people from all walks of life, such as the average joe looking for work inside Arstotzka, smugglers, spies, and terrorists. Your job is to determine if the documents of these people have the proper documentation to enter the country. If not, you are tasked to turn them away or turn them over to the authorities.

The game is divided into 31 days, and depending on the decisions you make as well as how well you play the game, you will get either one of the game's 20 endings.

If you so choose, you can complete the game in under four hours.

The game has received more than a handful of awards, with the most notable being the winnder of the grand prize of the 2014 Independent Games Festival and the Bafta award for strategy and simulation.
