Kirby’s Dream Buffet is Arriving Sooner Than You Think

Kirby's Dream Buffet is already right around the corner.

Nintendo confirmed via tweet that the "Kirby-flavored Mario Party-like game" got a release date. Less than a week from now, on August 17, you and your three friends can enjoy the game.

According to IGNKirby's Dream Buffet was only announced last month with a summer 2022 release date but it is arriving sooner than the players' anticipated date.

Kirby's Dream Buffet Releases New Trailer

Together with the release date's announcement, a new trailer was also released. In the teaser, some of the costumes and colors available to unlock through playing the game were shown.

Once you unlock new options, you can also customize your starting podium and even be granted new stages.

According to The Verge, the game has three types where you and your friends will compete to eat the most strawberries.

You can enjoy a game of race mode wherein there's a track littered with obstacles to dodge plus food for your Kirby to eat. You'll become stronger as you eat more. Thus, you'll be able to kick your competitors off the track and be the first one to reach the goal.

Another mode is the mini-game where you have to compete in a small battle arena to eat as many strawberries as you can. You have to do this before time runs out.

Lastly, the battle royale mode involves knocking Kirbys off the platform in order to steal their strawberries and take home the victory.

Kirby will have the Copy Food ability in all of the game mode. This would allow him to transform, and gain powers in relation to the food he ate.

You can get Kirby's Dream Buffet for $15. According to The Verge, the price seems fair as the game "doesn't seem to have a lot of depth" aside from "have cake, will travel."

Kirby's Dream Buffet is Part of Kirby's 30th Anniversary Celebration

You can enjoy Kirby's Dream Buffet both in split-screen and between multiple Nintendo Switches in the same room.

Kirby's Dream Buffet is the second Kirby game released for Nintendo Switch this year. In March, Kirby and the Forgotten Land was launched.

Since the Kirby franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, Nintendo had promised that a variety of other Kirby announcements were coming. It seems that Kirby's Dream Buffet is one of them.

"To celebrate that anniversary, we are planning a variety of projects in collaboration with the Kirby developer HAL Laboratory, aimed at sharing the charm of the Kirby series with many people," said Nintendo.

As per previous report of IGN, Nintendo did not provide any further information regarding what these projects will be.

However, in February, Nintendo of America started the celebrations on Twitter through an announcement that a free Kirby wallpaper is available for download on its website.

Marking the mainline Kirby series' first 3D action game, Kirby and the Forgotten Land appears to be part of the 30th anniversary celebrations, as the game was released on March 25.
